Sparkle a Little Brighter
It seems to be one of the biggest hesitations in social media marketing. “Where do I draw the line between sharing my successes and sounding egotistic?” It is a fear that others have shared with me a lot lately and the best advice I can give is, in a community as rich with support as ours, sparkle a little brighter and enjoy the celebration.
Remember, social media is just that, a social space to talk about what is happening in real time and about real life. Our lives are rich with experience and you have important choices to make about what to post and what not to post. Your accomplishments, however, should always rise to the top of your share list.
Ask yourself this question. Is your business average or exceptional? It is easy to be average, to create a brand story that posts mediocre content and falls just beneath the radar. It is daring to be exceptional, to celebrate and to have fun with your online content. Being exceptional takes courage and confidence.
“You musn’t be afraid to sparkle a little brighter darling” – Kirsten Kaeln
All this being said, you don’t want to post every day about how you are the best business around. Take time to jump on other business social media pages and give them a high-five for their work and accomplishments. Say thank you to business and customers for supporting you and yours. Enjoy celebrating on others behalf. Helping others sparkle usually sets off an explosion of support for you! Kind words and a “way to go” go a long way in building strong business relationships.
“There are two ways of spreading light: to be the candle or the mirror that reflects it.” –Edith Wharton
